This instrument is a fresh translation of the common Greek of the first century. Hopefully, a more accurate expression in current American usage of the English language is achieved.

The purpose of this harmony or integration is to provide you the reader an original translation of the Greek Scriptures in today's language, so clear that a bus driver could pick up, read and understand the ministry of Jesus Christ.

"Literal" refers to the fact that the JGI is a word for word translation. The original grammar of the text is retained as much as possible.
